This masterpiece of the Flemish Renaissance dates back to 1538 and is one of the oldest Renaissance castles in Belgium. It was hardly altered over the course of the centuries, which makes it quite unique.
The castle park was developed in the 18th century and inspired by the Prater in Vienna. It is now a provincial domain. The Sterrebos Provincial Domain with its surface area of 27 hectares is quite small, but it boasts a wide variety of endemic and exotic trees and shrubs lining the park’s alleys, which are laid out in the form of a star.
