French military cemetery of Machelen-aan-de-LeiePrint
This French cemetery holds the bodies of 750 soldiers who perished during the 1918 liberation offensive. It is a plain, green place with a lot of plantings.
A lot of the soldiers who died came from the colonies, which is noticeable from the graves: the grave memorials reflect the different religious persuasions. The cemetery furthermore features a sculpture by French sculptress Bayser-Gratry. In 2008 the war cemetery became a listed monument.
